Indian River Jail Release Destinations
A Released label means the selected Indian River County Jail booking episode ended. It does not always mean the person returned to the community. The Release Info can identify bond, a court discharge, completion of a county sentence, or another reason. The Released To field may name a person, agency, or institution. Read the reason and destination together before drawing a conclusion.
A bond release ends jail custody while the criminal case can remain pending. A transfer to the Florida Department of Corrections means the person left the county jail for state prison custody. An ICE or other-agency destination is also a custodial handoff. If the destination names another custodian, continue there. Use FDC for state prison, the receiving sheriff for another county, the Bureau of Prisons for a designated federal prisoner, and ICE's detainee locator for immigration custody.

Confirm Indian River Jail Releases
The Sheriff's Inmate Search covers current and historical adult bookings that meet its web rules. Search the person, not just the live inmate count. A released person normally no longer belongs on a current-custody roster, yet the old booking can remain in the history.
- Enter the full name and date of birth when known. The form also accepts booking date, Release Date, booking number, and date of birth.
- Match more than the name. Compare the booking number, case number, birth date, and other identifiers.
- Open the correct episode. One person can have both an old released booking and a later current booking.
- Read the exact release date and time, release reason, disposition, and Released To entry.
- Use the case number in the Clerk's Online Case View to check the legal outcome.

The form is the primary local route because it searches booking history, not just people still held at the jail.

The lobby is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Those hours are not release times. IRCSO does not publish a fixed gate-release schedule or family waiting area.

Indian River Jail Booking Records
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office Department of Corrections operates the county jail. Arrests made by the Sheriff and by police in Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Fellsmere can enter the same county booking-history system. The arresting agency field can therefore name a city police department even though the custody record belongs to the county jail.
IRCSO's 2023 Internal Affairs Annual Report supplies that throughput figure. It counts processing events, not unique people released. The public history is searchable for eligible adult bookings on or after August 1, 2005. Records for people younger than 18 at booking, sealed or expunged matters, and earlier bookings are excluded from web results. An empty search can thus reflect a stated limit rather than proof the person was never booked.
Each history can contain a photograph, identity details, arrest and booking times, agency, case number, charges, bond, disposition, and Release Info. A charge is not a conviction. The Clerk owns the final court disposition, while FDC owns any later state-prison and community-supervision history.
Indian River Bond Release Process
Bond has two separate stages. First, check the Indian River County Jail history to learn whether bond has been set and the amount shown for the booking. If no bond has been set, first appearance or a later court hearing controls. Jail staff cannot replace the judge's order. Once bond is available, IRCSO describes cash and supported card payment through the facility or online channel, as well as release through a surety bondsman.
A Posted Bond release confirms that the jail episode ended because the bond condition was met. It does not dismiss the charge, establish guilt, or finish the case. Use the case number from the booking detail to review later hearings, pleas, dismissal entries, judgment, or sentence in the Clerk's docket. Bond can also be modified or revoked, and a new warrant or violation may create another custody episode.
Processing takes more than payment alone. Staff must match the order, clear applicable holds, complete the release record, and return or route property. IRCSO does not publish a fixed processing time, weekend schedule, gate, or waiting area. A family should confirm the completed Release Info rather than infer a time from lobby or property-office hours.
Indian River Release Record Fees
Florida public-record fees depend on the format and work required. IRCSO lists 15 cents per page for specified incident or accident report copies and notes that certification may carry a lawful charge. Large-volume public-record or photo work requires a $200 deposit before the office quotes the total. That deposit is not the price of one booking photograph. Card payments carry a 3.95 percent convenience fee with a $2.50 minimum.
An extensive request can also produce a special-service charge under section 119.07(4)(d), based on actual labor and resources. Ask for an estimate before production and request the existing electronic file when it meets the need. A well-scoped request for one booking episode, release screen, and photo is more precise than a broad demand for every document tied to a name.
Indian River Jail ICE Releases
Indian River's local records require care when ICE appears in the destination. IRCSO entered a 287(g) Task Force Model agreement with ICE in March 2025. An older Warrant Service Officer agreement describes ICE taking custody only after release from IRCSO criminal custody. That older document explains the sequence but should not be treated as proof of the current operating procedure.
If the jail history records an ICE handoff, the county booking has ended while immigration custody may have begun. Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator by A-number and country of birth, or by exact biographical information. ICE says the locator covers current detainees and some people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. A blank result can reflect spelling, processing, transfer, a protected record, or release, so it is not conclusive by itself.
Property After Indian River Release
Physical and digital property follow different paths. For physical items, the confined person first names the recipient through a Smart Communications property-release slip. The recipient needs photo identification and an appointment. Property pickup runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the Property line is 772-978-6363. IRCSO says items are discarded 30 days after release.
Digital material uses SmartInmate instead. After release, the former inmate can sign in with the inmate number and password to download photos, messages, and postal mail without charge. The official corrections page explains both the release-property process and available bond methods.
The source makes clear that property-office hours do not establish when a person will be processed out of jail.
Indian River Release Reentry Services
IRCSO has a local reentry layer for people who have left the jail. Former-inmate services are offered Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Available help can include emergency food, clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and local resource information. A bicycle program also exists, but it requires advance registration, a waiver, a training video, and a skills test. It is not guaranteed transportation from the release door.
The Sheriff also lists GoLine and Community Transit at 772-569-0903. GoLine is the county's free fixed-route service, while Community Transit offers shared door-to-door trips for eligible riders. The published resource directory does not identify a stop at the jail gate, so check the live route before relying on it.
